  • How does SBL relate to Journey to Excellence 2.0?
    • The goal of Adventist Education has always been to facilitate growth and learning specifically toward the development of independent, individual thinkers confident in their ability to continue learning throughout life and into eternity.  J2E 2.0 believes that Standards Based Learning offers the best methods for doing this.
  • How do I access Marzano P-Scales?
    • The P-Scales are available from your local Union office, contact them for more details.
  • What is the connection between the High Reliability School Model and Standards Based Learning?
    • The Marzano High Reliability Schools framework complements the NAD Accreditation process and school based continuous improvement plans.
    • The HRS framework shows how best practices work together and provides indicators to empower conferences and schools to measure their progress on attaining five increasing levels of reliability. The five levels of HRS are:
  1. Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Culture
  2. Effective Teaching in Every Classroom (The New Art and Science of Teaching)
  3. Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum (SBL 3.0 Priority Standards)
  4. Standards-Referenced Reporting (SBL p-scales and critical concepts, SBL Digital Curriculum Platform, SBL resources and supports)
  5. Competency-Based Education

Levels 1, 2 and 3 support the work of Standards-based Learning which is the foundation for our goal of Level 4. Levels 1, 2, and 3 ensure long term sustainability of SBL.

Using the framework and indicators, schools can drive permanent, positive, and significant impacts on student achievement by synthesizing multiple complex initiatives into one harmonious system.
